Buying a new home is a major investment both financially and emotionally. Scheduling in all your display home visits can be a huge task. Once you get to the display home it can be easy to get so wrapped up in the moment that you don’t take the time to assess the house on a practical and rational level. We hope to give you some insight into what to be looking for and how to get the most out of your visit.
Know what you are looking for before you get there
Flicking through magazines, looking online, thinking about what features are important will give you an idea of what you want. Make a list of must haves and things you definitely don’t want. The hard part is to then decide what you are willing to compromise on. Do you want a single storey or two storey home? Check out our gallery online! It may just help you make your mind up. If you want an idea of what quality of home you should be expecting we have exterior and interior photos of all our display homes too! It is vital to gather as much information as possible before you start planning your viewing route.
Plan your visits
Most new home buyers only have time on the weekends to go house viewing so map it out! Write down every house you like and want to view, the times it is open and map it out based on location. Make a shortlist from the ones you liked and go and view them again. If you can, try and get there during the week for the homes that have made it through your culling process. It will be more quiet and you will have more time and space to go through every part of the house. Click here for our display home opening times
What to look for once you are there
Look at the functionality of the home, how it flows and picture where your furniture would go; what you would change to suit your lifestyle. Power point placement and light fixtures are another thing to keep your eye on. For example, pendants over a dining table may not be ideal if you chose to put your lounge suite there instead. Also take into consideration how the style of the home will look in your neighbourhood and if it is the right size for the land that you are acquiring. Don’t forget, with our home design service you can tailor any of our existing designs based on your taste and requirements.
Most of all enjoy! Visiting display homes should be fun and inspiring. Ask as many questions as possible.
